So here I am one of the only people who has to work on Presidents day. Lovely. Things have been crazed in my life between apartment hunting, deadlines, training, etc. I wanted to mention (aka beg) that anyone who might want to sponsor me for my race do it now because if I don't have pretty much all the money by Wednesday Feb 18th I can't do it :(. I know it's a tight year, but if anyone can give anything, I don't care if it

s five bucks, it would help. You can just go to my website at http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/nj09/rhaynes to donate. Hope everyone is well.

Hey folks. Today it has been one full month since I have had a cigarette. Woo hoo! So to keep me honest, one of the things that I am doing is running a half marathon in May. I start training next saturday, though I have been doing some running since I quit to keep me from going completely insane. Anyhow, I am working with Team in Training which does Leukemia, blood cancer, and other cancer research, as well as gives treatment to people who otherwise can't afford it. I have an honored teammate, my mom's best friend Sybil, who has acute leukemia. I doubt she will survive to see me race, but it is for her one way or another. So I am excited and scared and I will find a way to do it. This is my site http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/nj09/rhaynes

I have to raise $2600 as part of my participation, so if anyone wants to sponsor me (hint hint) it would be amazing. Any amount is amazing. If you cant, I understand, then just give me lots of encouragement!

Voting was somewhat crazy here. Two hours, could have been worse. Not only did I get to vote for Barak Obama, I also got to vote for Micah Kellner...

I got through my first day great! I read "the Easy Way to Quit Smoking" which a bunch of my friends used to quit and it really changed my perspective. I'd had it for six months but just got up the courage to read it. I read it in two days and on the third I quit. Just like that.
Rachel
I am smoking my last cigarette tonight at midnight. Very excited. Encouragement only please.

Happy Birthday Drew!

The oggie is home!!!! We have named him Dexter and he is awesome, tiny and adorable! I don't know how to post pics though... Help me tech-savvy people?
Rachel
Not much good been going on here. We got denied to get the puppy we wanted because our building has a no pets policy even though it was listed as a pet friendly building. Assholes. I am trying to get my psychiatrist to write a note saying I need to have a dog due to my depression and anxiety disorders (which is a protected law here, so hopefully that will work out.)
Rachel
Well unfortuntately we are going to have to give him back. I am devastated. He bit the dog walker. Bit her finger down to the bone.
Rachel
Okay I attempted to upload a pic of linus. It's listed as cutelinus.jpg. Let me know if it worked at all.
Rachel
Well we got a dog yesterday. He's some sort of hound/pointer mix who we have named Linus. He's gonna be HUGE. He's five months and already 40 pounds. Not really trained so we need to work on that, and it's driving Pierce a bit batty because he's never dealt with a puppy before, but he's still a fun dog and very beautiful and sweet. I will upload pictures once I figure out how to send them from my phone THEN figure out how to upload.

So I haven't posted in awhile. On the stressful side, mom is going to have to sublet her apartment and move in with my Aunt Ellen and Uncle Paul in NJ. She hasn't made a sale since October and is going pretty rapidly broke. She's beyond upset at this and so am I. For those of you who know them, you can understand... The good nonstressful news is that we are going to the ASPCA on Monday to hopefully adopt a dog.
Rachel
We had to put our dear dog Jack to sleep today. He was 14 years old. While it was pretty much expected, we're shattered. Such a great dog.
Rachel
Not sure if I mentioned this on here or not. I think most of you know I have decided to go back to school as well. Haven't applied yet, but I am planning on applying to Fordham for my MSW sometime soon once I figure out all the logistics. Right now I am trying to ignore the fact that in combination with work, this will pretty much leave me with no life. But I am really excited and I feel like it's the right direction for me.
Rachel
I have home phone again. As well as cable and internet. YAY!!!! We're settling in very nicely and our apartment is really coming along. Only a few boxes left. I can't wait for you all to see it. It already feels like home.
Rachel
So after much stress, Pierce and I finally have an apartment. We move in Friday. E. 74th st. It's a cute one bedroom in an elevator building. Come one come all to sleep on my couch!
Rachel
Damn. Our 10 year reunion (!!!) is in May and I can't go. I am in a wedding on the same day. Boo. I was half looking forward/half dreading it, but I have been cheated out of dreading it. Grrrr.
Rachel
I cannot wait to get out of my apartment. My roommates are just jerks. They had a Christmas party over the weekend and tried to pretend that they weren't having it because they didn't want me to come. Um, it's in MY APARTMENT. I usually spend the weekends at Pierce's but it was just mean and unnecessary. These woman are 33 and 36 and they act like catty 12 year olds. Pierce and I are moving in Feb 1, but it still feels like a long way away when I am living with beasts.
Rachel
Didn't we used to have a recipe section on cosym or am I totally making that up? I forget how to make my spinach casserole because I haven't made it in years and remembered that it is yummy.

Before my company was bought out, we used a company called administaff to handle payroll and benefits. Yesterday, I received a letter stating that a laptop had "gone missing" (all by itself the clever thing!) that had all my info (ssn, birthdate, address, bank and routing no, mother's maiden name...) this info was not encrypted, even though it is supposed to be, nor should it ever have been on a laptop. Administaff is a big company that is publicly traded, not some little mom and pop shop. They offered one year credit monitering with protection up to $2,500 with a $250 deductible. Oh, and this offer not valid for citizens of New York. This happened to most, if not all of my company. Sigh. I'm gonna have to find a lawyer.
