Well unfortuntately we are going to have to give him back. I am devastated. He bit the dog walker. Bit her finger down to the bone.

what happened? that's a horrible situation (i know from first hand experience) but often the dog can be worked with. especially if he's been in a shelter for a long time, he may just need some help adjusting.

nothing. she was just opening the crate and he lunged at her. this is going to be an 80 or 90 pound dog. we can't have a dog that big that bites. ever. especially since we are going to have kids in the next few years.

that's too bad. are you going to keep looking?
Rachel - (August 11, 2008 10:42pm)
Yes, we are going to keep looking. This was horrible. The woman who got us for him kept trying to act like it was our fault or like we were lying or something. And this was HER FRIEND who was the dog-walker. She said that the woman is a drama queen but Pierce came home to a blood soaked rug and lots of bloody tissues. So yeah. That sucked. He was the most amazing sweetie and no one could see this coming but that is the one and only deal-breaker we have. I didn't care when he peed and pooped in the apartment and ate everything, I expected that. But when you bite down to the bone with no provocation, no growl and no warning? No. So yeah. We will look but I am totally devastated (I attached more than Pierce) and need a few weeks to heal. I don't know if I could name the next one linus. I love the name. We'll see how I feel. He LOOKED like a linus too. I don't know. We'll see. They even tried to make us pay to take him back, then when we said no they said no one could take him til tomorrow and we had to call five times ourselves. I have not had this much of a nightmare day in a long time.

I am so sorry. My dad and my step mom had a similar problem with a dog they rescued in Scotch plains. It was a really sweet mix. It loved my dad and his wife and seemed perfect until my two younger brothers came to visit. It was horrible, but you are right, you can't keep an animal that bites. Don't worry you will find the right one.

I think its better to gets kids first then add the dog. So does Rocky, jerko malerko.

Yeah, but we can't afford kids right now, but we can afford a dog! Kids are gonna need to wait a few years. And I would like to be married first... Not for everyone, but I'd prefer it.
