Hey folks. Today it has been one full month since I have had a cigarette. Woo hoo! So to keep me honest, one of the things that I am doing is running a half marathon in May. I start training next saturday, though I have been doing some running since I quit to keep me from going completely insane. Anyhow, I am working with Team in Training which does Leukemia, blood cancer, and other cancer research, as well as gives treatment to people who otherwise can't afford it. I have an honored teammate, my mom's best friend Sybil, who has acute leukemia. I doubt she will survive to see me race, but it is for her one way or another. So I am excited and scared and I will find a way to do it. This is my site http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/nj09/rhaynes

I have to raise $2600 as part of my participation, so if anyone wants to sponsor me (hint hint) it would be amazing. Any amount is amazing. If you cant, I understand, then just give me lots of encouragement!

I am crazy proud of you. It was really hard for Geoff to quit. I have always wanted to run a marathon, but I have never done it. If we want to donate, do we just send you a check?

Aw thanks honey. The website is probably easiest, and you can print out the thank you for taxes and stuff. Team in Training is a really great way to do a marathon. (Though I'm sure you're a bit busy at the moment, but maybe next year...) Doesn't matter if you can do one mile or ten, they can get you there, I just decided to do a half instead of a whole because I'd like to keep some semblance of a life and don't like the idea of my toenails falling off. Congrats on the baby again!!!!

congrats on quitting for a full month. be sure to get good running shoes so you don't hurt your knees; you should get a new pair every 300 miles (which adds up quickly if you're training).

good luck!
